LHC, The Beginning of The end or The End of the Beginning the Key to an Area of New Discoveries

Event information
Venue:AHC-3 205

The stunning performance of the LHC, the new physics results from all 4 experiments, and last but not least the discovery of a new Higgs-like particle, will mark in history the first LHC running period not as the beginning of the end but rather the end of the beginning. The upcoming 2-3 year shutdown obligates us to be responsible and use this remarkable opportunity to impact the physics direction and improve our detector performance (in particular the trigger) to accommodate these directions in order to extend the physics at the LHC by next run. Highlights from the first run period from the 4 LHC experiments will be presented, together with a proposal on how to move to an era of new discoveries after the long shutdown.
