We now have found numerous extra Solar planets. Some of those planets are in the "Goldilocks zone" of their parent star, thus should have conditions very similar to the Earth. We are on the verge of being able to determine if life has changed those planets atmospheres (the JWST should be able to detect atmospheric contents of extrasolar planets when launched in 2017). A Russian billionaire has just donated $100 million over 10 years to the search for extraterrestrial life in the form of radio signals. So in all probability, if intelligent life is out there in our galaxy we will soon have a good chance of finding it. What would be the likely effect that the discovery of extraterrestrial life might have in the context of the worlds religions and human thought?
