This spring, Dr. Bennett Schwartz will be traveling to Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey, to be a visiting scholar for a week. He was invited by the Provost of Boğaziçi University, Ali Tekcan. There he will be giving a talk, and meeting with undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning and memory. After his visit in Turkey, he will be traveling to the American University of Iraq in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan region, Iraq. While there he will give a talk and meet with students as well. Dr. Schwartz was invited by the president of the American University of Iraq, Dawn Dekle.
In the fall of 2014, Bennett Schwartz will be traveling to Clermont-Ferrand, France, to be part of the 2nd International Conference on Metacognition. This conference discusses the advances in metacognition research, specifically, how research has been extended to applied and socially relevant issues, such as the best strategies and contexts for enhancing students’ learning, and learning in psychopathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as autism spectrum disorders. In addition, metacognition now includes research on the processing of emotionally loaded materials, the question of agency in humans, and many other topics.
