Women's and Gender Studies student receives internship at her top choice organization

Katt Fernandez received an internship with the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center. Her interview went very well and as soon as the interviewer saw that she was a Women's Studies major, she was offered the position.

The Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center is a center specifically for women, and their children, with substance abuse problems. They are an in-patient home and they provide about 66 families with a place to live, therapy and classes to help women get back on track.

As an intern, she will be participating in giving group, individual and family therapy, starting this fall.

She also spoke to the director about some of the work that she has done, and about the Women's Studies program at FIU and the director was beyond impressed. The other therapists and workers at the center were also raving about her knowledge.

Congratulations Katt Fernandez on this great opportunity!
