Dr. Joe Raiker, who has only been at FIU for one year, has received two awards in the past six months. He was invited to participate in the NIMH-funded CHIPS program for new investigators to be tutored about the NIMH-grant process. The “instructors” included faculty from WPIC at the University of Pittsburgh and from NIMH internal program staff. There was a lot of competition for only a few training slots. Dr. Raiker went to Pittsburgh for a week this summer to participate.
Dr. Raiker also received notice from NARSAD that he has won one of their 2015 Young Investigator Awards. This is a very prestigious award in the mental health and neuroscience fields.
Both of these awards routinely go to faculty in top research universities (e.g., Duke, Michigan, Yale, Hopkins, Pittsburgh), and our Psychology Department is quite proud to have had a faculty member who has won both of these.
