Math Lab Gains Recognized by President Rosenberg

President Mark Rosenberg sent out his spring "Welcome Back" letter on January 2, 2013. The letter mentioned various FIU accomplishments that have occurred in the year 2012. One of these being the New Mastery Math Lab. The following is an excerpt from the letter.

"In the past year, we made great strides in the state’s high priority STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), including the establishment of the Mastery Math Laboratory, aimed at improving student performance in college algebra. The results so far are encouraging. The pass rate for Fall 2012 for College Algebra was 54 percent with a final cumulative exam average of 68 percent. For Intermediate Algebra, the pass rate was 55 percent and the final cumulative exam average was 60 percent. This puts us close to achieving our goal of a 57 percent pass rate for 2012-13."
